Full-Spectrum vs Broad-Spectrum vs Isolate CBD: What's the Difference?

Escrito por el equipo de abastecimiento de Greens Farmhouse Nuestros estándares de calidad y pruebas

Quick Answer

These three terms describe how much of the original hemp plant's cannabinoid and terpene profile survives extraction — and it changes the effect, the legal THC content, and the price point.

Three Extraction Outcomes, Three Different Products

"Full-spectrum," "broad-spectrum," and "isolate" describe how much of the original hemp plant's chemical profile remains after extraction and processing. Understanding the difference matters for both compliance and for matching the right product to the right customer.

Full-Spectrum: The Whole Plant Profile

Full-spectrum extracts retain the complete range of cannabinoids naturally present in the plant — CBD, trace THC (under the legal 0.3% limit), CBG, CBN, and the full terpene profile. Many customers prefer full-spectrum products because of the "entourage effect" theory — the idea that cannabinoids and terpenes work better together than any single compound in isolation. Our CBD flowers and most resins are naturally full-spectrum, since they're minimally processed plant material.

Broad-Spectrum: Everything Except THC

Broad-spectrum extracts start as full-spectrum, then go through an additional process to remove THC specifically while retaining other cannabinoids and terpenes. This appeals to customers who want the multi-cannabinoid profile without any THC at all — useful for anyone concerned about drug testing or operating in a market with especially strict rules. Our 0% THC resin and oil references fall into this category.

Isolate: Pure CBD, Nothing Else

Isolate is CBD in its purest form — typically 99%+ pure, with all other plant compounds removed. Our 99.8% CBD Isolate is this category: a white crystalline powder with no detectable THC, terpenes, or other cannabinoids. It's the preferred base for precise dosing, cosmetic formulations, and any product where a completely neutral, flavorless, colorless ingredient is required.

Our 90% CBD Distillate sits between broad-spectrum and isolate — highly refined but retaining slightly more of the original cannabinoid complexity than pure isolate.

Which Should You Stock or Use?

  • Full-spectrum: Best for customers who want the complete plant experience and aren't concerned about trace THC.
  • Broad-spectrum: Best for customers who want multiple cannabinoids but need guaranteed zero THC.
  • Isolate: Best for white-label manufacturing, precise dosing, and THC-sensitive markets.

If you're formulating your own product line, our white label CBD page covers bulk options across all three categories, with lab documentation for each.
